FAQ

Evidence-based postpartum doula care for the whole family,

specializing in maternal health and wellness and infant development.

Erica Ruedas Hall, a postpartum doula serving Renton, Bellevue, Issaquah, Kent, Newcastle

You weren’t meant to do this alone. I help families in South King County and the Seattle Eastside transition into parenthood with confidence, evidence-based care, and a sustainable support system. My name is Erica Ruedas Hall, your postpartum doula care professional for the first year.

We hear it all the time: “It takes a village.” But when you’re a first time parent, isolated, or far from family,  building that community feels impossible. This is a transitional time when you need your village more than ever.

From infant development to navigating the complex return to paid work, I offer practical, straightforward tools that cut through the noise of conflicting advice. Most importantly, my goal is to provide more than just an extra set of hands. I’m here to help you lay a foundation of confidence and community that lasts long after our time together ends.

FAQ

Do you offer overnight support?

I do not. I focus on actively supporting the new parents, and while overnight support can help support the parents in sleep, the focus is more on active care of the newborn. If you are looking for overnight support, I can refer you to postpartum care professional or newborn care specialist who specializes in overnight support.

How can you support me virtually?

While it’s true that virtually, I can’t help you sort baby clothes or make you a cup of tea, there are benefits to knowing that someone is in your corner. Whether you just need to vent about an overbearing family member or your lack of sleep, or you need to ask if your newborn is sleeping normally, I can support you. Knowing you’re being heard can make a world of difference when you’re in the trenches.

When should I book you?

The best time to start searching for a postpartum doula is around the end of your second trimester or the beginning of the third trimester. This will give you time to interview multiple doulas and book one, and schedule a prenatal intake.

What if I’m already postpartum?

There’s no better time to book a postpartum doula! A postpartum doula can help you all through the tough first year. You can have in-home support if your partner returns to paid work or to help in the evenings when you go back to paid work. You can also have virtual support to walk you through all the decisions you have to make the first year, assess your latch or give bottle feeding tips, give you resources for starting solids, or just be a friendly ear to hear about your worries.
